Metrocard is a contactless smartcard ticketing system for public transport services in the Adelaide city and suburbs in South Australia. Adelaide metroCARDs are rechargeable plastic cards which can be use on buses, trains and trams. You can manage your Adelaide metroCARD online by setting up an account. If you’ve already got an online metroCARD Adelaide account, you can login.
How to login Adelaide metroCARD?
- Visit Adelaide Account Login
- Enter Email Address / Seniors Card number
- Enter the password
- Then Login.
How to use an Adelaide metroCARD?
- You’ve to validate your metroCARD every time you get into a bus, train or tram.
- In buses: You’ve get on through the front door. Yellow validator machines are located inside the doors of all vehicles.
- In trains, trams and O-Bahn buses: You can get on at any door. To validate your metroCARD, hold it in front of the validator (or the mark on barrier gates) and wait for the solid green light and/or high-pitched sound that tells you it has worked.
- You don’t need to validate your metroCARD when you leave a vehicle.
- Register your metroCARD, so that it’ll be easy to manage your account, recharge and protect your balance if your metroCARD is lost or stolen.
- A single trip lasts for 2 hours and you will only be charged once in this timeframe, no matter how many times you validate your metroCARD.
- Through validating each time to know how many people are using the bus, train or tram and plan the services to meet their needs.

For Seniors Card: You can use public transport for free on Monday to Friday between 9am and 3pm, and all day Saturday and Sunday.
South Australian Seniors Card members
South Australian Seniors Card members: From July 1, South Australian Seniors Card members can travel for free on Adelaide Metro buses, trains and trams – all day, every day.
Interstate Seniors Card members: Australian state or territory Seniors Card can use Adelaide Metro for free for 14 days in a row, during the following times:
Monday to Friday: midnight to 7am, 9:01am to 3pm, 7:01pm to midnight,
All day Saturday, Sunday and public holidays.
A concession fare is required: Monday to Friday – 7am to 9am and 3pm to 7pm (Note: Excludes National Seniors Card, Seniors Business Discount Card and New Zealand SuperGold Card)

Eligibility:
- Aged 60 years or older
- Permanent South Australian resident
- Not working more than 20 hours per week in paid employment (part-time and casual employees may average their hours over a 12 month period).

- Pension card number.
- There is no income or pension limit and the card is issued free of charge.
If Seniors Card was Lost or stolen, then you must report through the Seniors Card website or contact centre.
How to get refunds on Adelaide metroCard?
For any assisstance, please contact Adelaide Metro InfoLine: 1300 311 108For South Australian Seniors Card holder or an authorised representative of a deceased registered metroCARD holder only can have refund.
An authorised representative can apply for a refund online. To apply for refund, you’ve to produce the following documents,
- a Death Certificate copy
- Grant of Probate or a Letter of Administration
- The deceased person’s registered metroCARD number
- Basic information about the deceased, such as their name and phone number.
How to find a lost / stolen / damaged metroCARDs in Adelaide?
Adelaide metroCARD will get stop working if it is bent, punctured, cut or exposed to extreme heat or radiation. Registered metroCARDS only can track, cancel or replace.
If your registered metroCARDS missed, you can contact InfoLine: 1300 311 108 to cancel. If you’ve auto recharge setup on a metroCARD, you can also cancel that also. YOu may also at the InfoCentre Adelaide Railway Centre.
If your registered metroCARD is lost, stolen or damaged, you can transfer any remaining balance to a different metroCARD you own. Otherwise you can buy a new metroCARD and transfer it to that. When you buy a new card, you may also need to pay a bit extra of $5 to top up your balance.
How to Check the Adelaide metroCARD Balance online?
The validator will display the metroCARD balance and, if the balance is low, also flash a green light. through online metroCARD account (if you’ve registered the card ) at metroCARD retailers.

Locate a Metrocard information center.
Check the card validator as you use Adelaide public transportation. When you swipe or scan your card on the bus, train, or tram, the validator screen will display your card balance

- At metroCARD retailers or vending machines across Adelaide
- Topped up metroCARD balance at the InfoCentre or using a vending machine, new funds will be available immediately.
- If you recharged online or by phone, your new funds will be available in about an hour.
- MetroCARD account updates overnight, recharges you buy or trips you do in one day won’t display in your account until the next day.
- To transfer the balance from one metroCARD to another, visit the InfoCentre in the Adelaide Railway Station.
- Transfer balances to/from registered metroCARDs (unless it is a faulty card) registered account holder.
- Transferring from an existing metroCARD to a new one (e.g. moving from a student metroCARD to a concession metroCARD), buy the new metroCARD and pay any difference to round the balance up to the nearest $5.
