As of at least Jan 2025, you can also use your credit card instead of a SUBE card at many SUBTE metro turnstiles. I say at many because several times I have had the turnstile reject my credit card. At one station (Humberto) two of the three turnstiles rejected my credit card but thankfully the third one accepted it. For travel around Buenos I try to use my credit card for the SUBTE but I carry a SUBE card for those times when the turnstiles are being picky.
